Benefits to Local Government

Illinois Local Units of Government are invited to participate in the Illinois Energy Conservation Authority NFP (“IECA”) C-PACE program. The program empowers commercial building owners to save energy and money, helps communities to create clean energy jobs and resilience, and allows local economies to flourish—all without any upfront costs or putting any general funds at risk.

Some of the benefits of participating in the IECA PACE Program include:

  • Job creation and retention: New opportunities in high-wage sectors such as technical, trades, lending, and equipment sales.
  • Business retention/community revitalization: Upgrade existing buildings (or repurpose to more beneficial use) to attract and retain businesses and grow property tax base and fee revenue.
  • Leadership on environmental conservation: Reduces carbon footprint, energy use, and water consumption.
  • Offer an alternative incentive to tax abatement or other costly strategies used by local governments to attract new businesses.

Here are the IECA PACE participating communities.
